Lauren Crumbliss, Instructor
As a Lake Wales native, and 2003 graduate of Lake Wales High School, it has been my great privilege to return to my alma mater as a culinary arts instructor.
I have been an educator for nearly 11 years. After graduating from Western Carolina University with a degree in education, I began my career teaching English in a rural community in North Carolina. Although I loved teaching English, I found myself spending most of my free time in the kitchen, the home of my real passion, cooking. My first culinary education came from my mother and grandmothers, the best cooks I have known in my life. I also educated myself by cooking frequently, watching others cook, taking classes and reading feverishly about all things food related.
It is my hope to share my love for cooking, and for eating, with my students. As a vocational teacher, my desire is that many students will find a connection with culinary arts and discover a possible career. But if not, I want students to walk away from my classes with an understanding of the fundamentals of making good food so that they can feed themselves and the ones they love for the rest of their lives.
When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our two dogs, Lila & Ginger, and our friends and family. I love to read, travel, sew and, of course, cook!
